Full set up guide
We’ve covered a few bits of key information about but lets walk through step by step how to go live from your console with Lightstream, where we’ll you can add overlays like chat and event lists. We’ll also walk you through the basics of setting up scenes for streaming.
To get started, navigate to studio.lightstream.com and sign in with your Twitch account. The first time you log into Lightstream, you’ll be met with an onboarding process which should get you through what you need to know, but let’s start from scratch and build up a scene together.
To get started, we’re gonna focus on the left side of the screen, which is gonna be where our sources, as well as our layers will go. We’re gonna click the big green add button, this will show us everything we can add to our Scene, from gameplay to alerts.
While you can just add overlays from inside Studio, you can also add third party browser sources if you’ve got an overlay service outside of Lightstream like StreamElements or Tiltify you need to use. You can add these by selecting them from the layer menu and pasting their URL in.
For now, we’re going to start off with the basics and go with a game source. A game source shows us where you’d like to show gameplay on your stream. Go ahead and add a Game source layer from the menu we just walked through on the left.

If you want to be more precise, you can go use the position button at the top of Studio to pick an exact height/width/ and location. You can also can find some extra tools to align your camera(or any other layer) to specific spots on the canvas.

Let’s talk scenes. You can find your Scenes at the bottom of Studio. While live, you can click on each scene to switch to it on stream. To add some more scenes to your stream, hit the “Add Scene” button on the left hand side of your Scenes.
With the free plan, you can only go live with your first three scenes. However, you can still play around with Studio and created more than three. You can freely switch which scenes are available to you when live by clicking and dragging them to reorder them. If you have a premium subscription, you do not have this limitation. You can also hover over existing scenes to see options like renaming, duplication, and deletion.
Note: The Scene on the far left will always be the Scene you go live with, so add any Starting Soon screens here!
If you’d like to get set up a little quicker, you can also add a Template from the “Add scene” menu as listed above. Just remember to adjust your camera settings to include your camera!
Your should be looking pretty ready to go live at this point. So let’s run you through the panel on the right. Everything you need to keep track of your stream while you’re live can be found here! You’ll find your Platform Chat, Guest chat (If you have any guests added to your stream) and your Events List.
Your Events List allows you to see your recent Twitch activity. So you can keep track of follows, your subscribers, raids and more. You can also add this as an overlay to your stream.
Lastly, we’ll walk you through the stream settings menu. You can find the Stream Settings menu in the top right of Studio.
You can find some settings here like your resolution and add any destinations you’d like to stream to. You can Simulcast to up to 5 destinations at once, just toggle your chosen destinations on and off in this menu!
