Launch details
Lightstream’s Feature update will be going live next week, as we get closer to launch we’ll share some more specifics around date and time.
You won’t need to do anything to access the new feature update, just log in as normal once we’re live! If for any reason you still need to access the previous version of Lightstream Studio after the feature update goes live, you can do so until September 15th.
On launch day we’ll let you know in our Discord and on socials when we’re going live (but Discord is the best place to get updates and chat with the team). Please remember we are based on a US (CT, GMT-6) time zone, so launch timing will be later in the evening for those in European and eastern time zones.
What's changing?
A lot! This feature update is pretty comprehensive, let’s dive in!
- Scenes – Save layouts as scenes and easily switch between them while live! We’ve also added some QOL options like scene duplication to make building your stream easier than ever!
- Absolute positioning – We know that you want more control. We’ll be removing automated layouts and implementing scenes and layers. We’re making it easy to get creative with more tools like:
- snapping & alignment
- Layer management
- Scaling
- Rotation
- Multi-select
- Templates – Not everyone’s a graphic designer. We’ve received feedback across both Lightstream Classic and Studio that you’d like help getting rolling with a starter project. We’ll be introducing templates, a way to get all your scenes and overlays set up in one click.
- Overlays – we received a lot of feedback saying you wish you didn’t have to go to another 3rd party product to add your overlays. We made our first step in the right direction with Lightstream Alerts, but why not go further? The full suite of Xsolla Partner Network overlays will be available within Lightstream Studio. You can still use any 3rd party overlays you like, but in addition to this you will be able to simply click and drag the following overlays onto the canvas:
- Text overlays
- Custom alerts
- Chat overlays
- Goals
- Banners
- Events list overlay
- Triggers
- Events viewer – Better monitor follows, subs, and more by seeing a list of recent events inside of Studio.
- Updated Audio management – Easily control your stream audio.
- Audio quality – We’ve made some back end tweaks to help optimize audio quality.
- UI changes – We’ve made some updates to our UI to accommodate the feature update.
- New onboarding experience – An in Studio onboarding experience will help you get acquainted with the new features as quickly as possible! We will also now surface console set up instructions inside of Lightstream Studio.
- Removal of favorites – With the addition of scenes, favorites are no longer necessary.
Scenes: For free users, please note you can still make as many scenes as you like and play around with the product, we’ll keep them saved for you so that you can still experiment or set up alternative options. You will just only be able to go live with 3 of them at a time.
Pricing updates
Don’t worry, we’re not taking any features away from free users (only adding!) and our premium price will remain the same.
Some of our new features will be limited to premium users, from launch our pricing will be updated as follows:
What's next?
As much as we’d like to, we can’t release everything we’ve planned at once, this is only the beginning for us, and we want to share some of the features coming in the near future!
- Projects – Projects will return, allowing you to organize your content better.
- Transitions – Set up transitions between scenes.
- Layer Grouping – group multiple layers together to make your life easier.
FAQ
Can I keep my work from Lightstream Studio?
Unfortunately not, since the update changes how you interact with Studio quite dramatically, there’s nothing for us to update.
Can we transfer our projects from Classic?
No. The new Lightstream Studio is built on newer tech that’s not compatible with your old Classic projects.
I already use Xsolla Partner Network overlays, do I have to set them up all over again inside Lightstream Studio now?
Not at all! You can continue to use an Xsolla Partner Network (or any other 3rd party) overlay you already have set up if you’d like to. It’s totally up to you!
Is there a benefit to using the overlays inside of Lightstream Studio instead of keeping my Xsolla Partner Network overlay I already have?
Of course! If you’re using the overlays inside of Studio it’s much easier to make quick tweaks/edit your overlay on the fly, and you won’t have to manually update your overlay resolution when you update your stream resolution.
Do I have to do anything to get the update?
Nope! Just log in as normal once we’re live.
