Our first Feature Update is live!
We just released a major update to Lightstream Studio and we’re excited to show you what’s new.
If you’ve been following along, you know this is a big step forward. We previewed some of the changes in our previous blog post, but this update is now fully live and ready for you to explore.

How to access the new version
Starting today, the new Scene-Based Version of Lightstream Studio will load by default when you log in to Lightstream Studio, You’ll be greeted by our mascot Beam, who’ll give you a quick tour of what’s new and share a link to our full walkthrough video.
Not ready to switch just yet? No problem. The previous Sceneless Version will still be available from the account dropdown in the top-left corner of Studio until September 15, 2025.
You can switch between versions any time during the transition, just make sure to start building your scenes in the new version before the old one goes away.

Lightstream Studio still has two plans:

What’s new in Studio
A lot! This update brings a ton of improvements based on community feedback. Let’s dive in!
- Scenes
Create and save different layouts, then switch between them while you’re live. We’ve added new options like scene duplication, layer copy/paste, and the ability to move layers between scenes to streamline your workflow. - Full layout control
We’ve removed automated layouts to give you creative control. Build your ideal stream with new layer positioning options:- Snapping
While dragging, layers will snap to canvas edge, center, or other layers for lightning fast placement - Quick Alignment
A single click to precisely get your layer aligned to common fixed positions - Scale, rotate, and crop
Size and shape quickly with an updated bounding box - Multi-select
Select multiple layers (shift + click) and move them all together

Not everyone’s a graphic designer. Templates give you pre-built scenes to set up your live stream with one click. - Overlays
You asked to skip the hassle of going back and forth from another website to bring in third-party overlay tools. You can now add, position, and manage Xsolla Partner Network (formerly Rainmaker.gg) Twitch event layers directly in Studio. Prefer to keep using an existing 3rd Party Browser Source? That works too. Missed an alert while in the middle of a match? See recent follows, subs, and other activity in right inside Studio. - Updated audio controls
A simplified interface makes it easier to manage your stream audio. - New onboarding experience
An in Studio onboarding experience will help you get acquainted with the new features as quickly as possible! We will also now surface console set up instructions inside of Lightstream Studio.
FAQ
Is this update coming to Lightstream Classic?
No. The new version of Studio is built on a vastly improved tech stack. Our goal is to transition everyone over from Classic once we’ve reached full feature parity. Give the new version a try and let us know what you’d want to see before switching.
Can I transfer projects from Classic?
Unfortunately not – Classic and the new Studio are not compatible.
Can I keep my work from the Sceneless Version Studio?
No. The new version is an entirely different workflow and data schema, so existing media won’t carry over.
I used a 3rd Party Browser Source in the Classic or Sceneless version of Lightstream. Can I keep using them?
Yes! We have full support for 3rd Party Browser Sources. You can continue using any existing Browser Source overlays.
Is there a benefit to using Xsolla Partner Network Twitch Event layers inside Lightstream Studio?
Yes, you can directly adjust their settings and position to ensure they align with other capture sources in your scene. Plus, they will automatically adjust to match any stream resolution changes.
